L'Amant Double (Double Lover, 2017)

Try harder, Ozon.

It's been 45 years since Sisters, 32 since The Fly and 27 since The Double Life of Veronique.  So basically, Ozon had a high bar to clear in terms of using the plot twists and visuals of this movie in any kind of new and or meaningful way.  Sadly, he didn't clear the bar, crashed chest first into it and never recovers, limping across the finish line.  This is almost the epitome of a movie that thinks it is far more clever and twisty than it really is.  Ooooh, look, mirrors!  Psychologists sleeping with their patients!  So edgy!  So new!  So...blurgh.  You want so much better from this but it's just old stuff somewhat reheated with terrible sex scenes thrown in.  I'm unfamiliar with lead actress Marine Vacth but I can't imagine that she doesn't deserve better material than this and I definitely know Jacqueline Bisset does.  Almost a complete waste of time and made all the worse by how slick it all looks, like they're trying to make a late-night Cinemax movie but class it up.  At least embrace the sleaze, people.
